CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Ballet
Ballet is considered the foundation of dance. Our instructors teach proper placement, alignment, balance, technique and control. These elements will be used in all forms of dance. Our students focus on improving strength, control, as well as body positioning in barre and center work. The students also learn the vocabulary and correct terminology of ballet.

Tap
Enjoy one of the most fun and high-energy forms of dance.  Learn coordination and rhythm while enj
oying a challenging and engaging workout. Those just beginning in tap will work on the basics of tap technique and the continuing level will learn more complex rhythms and steps.

Jazz 

Class curriculum is based on ballet technique layered with traditional jazz movement and includes a proper warm-up, stretches, across-the-floor progressions, and combinations. As students progress through each level, curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate.

Lyrical/Contemporary 

Lyrical style dance combines elements of ballet and jazz while expressing emotion.  Contemporary style dance embraces innovation blending techniques from various genres including ballet, jazz, modern and lyrical.   Some prior training in ballet and jazz is needed.

Combo Class

Combo Classes are for students between the ages of 2 1/2-5 years. Tap, Ballet, and Baton Twirling will be taught.

Tots to Tumble Class

Tots to Tumble Classes are for students between the ages of 18 months-3 years.  Music, movement, balance and basic dance and tumbling steps are introduced in a fun and friendly environment.  This type of class includes mom, dad or another loved one participating in the class along with the little dancer.

Acro for Dance

Acro is for those wanting to learn gymnastics/acro tricks for dances. Only floor tumbling is taught. Beginner students will work on the basic fundamentals starting with frontrolls, cartwheels, backrolls, backbends and front limbers.  The continuing levels will advance their skills by working on walkovers, front handsprings, back handsprings, and aerials as well as strengthening and flexibility.


Musical Theatre

Musical Theatre, Mini Glee & Glee classes will work on singing and movement Broadway style.  Each member of the class will work on songs in groups and sometimes as solos.  Choreography will be taught to complement the songs.

Drill Team and Jazz Technique 
Drill Team and Jazz Technique is a fun class for girls of middle to high school age. The class starts with stretching for flexibility for kicks and splits. Students will learn proper kick technique and dance jazz technique. They will learn a routine to perform during Christmas Show Offs, Spring Spectacular and the Spring Recital.  *Our Technique 3 Leaps, Turns & Tricks class would be a great addition to this class.

 

Pointe

Pointe is offered to those students who have mastered the knowledge and technique of ballet and are ready for the next level. Strength and control are extremely important in this dance form. Instructor approval is necessary.

Featurettes

Baton Twirling is a fun and exciting art form and the featurettes are our baton twirling teams.  Our featurette teams have multiple performance opportunities and attend two competitions each season.  Please reach out to us to inquire about our baton twirling program.  Students must be ages 5 and up.  

 

CK Competition Teams

Our CK Competition Teams are for those who want to have multiple performance opportunities and compete.  Auditions are held in August and are open to students ages 5 and up with dance experience.  We have multiple competition teams for each age group in a variety of styles.  Placement will be decided by instructors after auditions.  These teams attend three competitions each season.  Contract must be signed.


CK Elite Company Teams
Our CK Elite Company Teams are selected during the competition team auditions and are strictly for those dancers who have a passion for dance and are wanting to train at the next level.  These teams will perform in a variety of shows throughout the season as well as compete with their dances in the spring and summer.  The staff places higher expectations on company dancers in and out of the studio.  There are mandatory classes that the company team members must take year-round including summer class/camp/intensive requirements.  Contract must be signed.

 

Rockwall Ballet Company

The Rockwall Ballet Company is reserved for those that show a desire to further their ballet training and is by invitation only. Dancers perform at several ballet festivals in and around the Dallas Area.  The staff places a higher expectation on the dancers in the ballet company.  All company dancers are required to take a minimum of 2 times a week in addition to weekly rehearsals on Sunday afternoons/evenings.  Additional intensives and rehearsals will be required.  Contract must be signed.
